A Guide To Buying Nail polish.

Only a small amount of my collection... oops!

I have a huge collection of nail polishes, can I just admit right now I cannot walk past a nail stand and not buy one. I honestly have a thing for the Barry M gelly nails, looking at my collection right now I can see I have purchased many many colours. They are perfect though and cheap which is a great thing when you want to treat yourself to something in Boots without feeling bad. I wanted to do a little guide to buying nail polishes, this is my experience so far since my addiction started a couple years ago. i remember discussing with Laura that I was shocked at how many she had but right now Laura I think we can rival each others collection...

Barry M: Starting with the obvious brand in my collection, Barry M Gelly nails. I am addicted to the formula of these babies. They look super glossy and have a great staying power when you add a great top coat. I have nearly every colour possible when it comes to the Gelly nails, my favourite is a baby pink called Dragon. I have worn this shade all Summer, pastel for me is hard to resist. Any shade baby blue, pink or lilac I have to buy it, there is no walking away from the stand. I find these are incredible for a drug store nail polish, so cheap yet the quality works wonders. They look cute too on your dressing table right?

Sally Hansen: I have purchased around five of Sally Hansen nail polishes, so far so good. I would stick to the darker, more prominent shades as I purchased a really light one and it was very watery. Saying this though overall my experience with these polishes are great, the best top coat I have ever owned came from the Sally Hansen range. Its called Cleard For take Off, which is why I love these polishes. I love it when they have cute names to go along with them, its so much more personal than a number.

Primark: I am loving the Ps range at the moment, not the best staying power but what more can you ask for when the product is a £1. I love the bottle shape and the colours are spot on. These are fab for presents or just to add more to your collection, I know I cannot resist. I also love the Angelica range which is sold in Primark too. Last year I had an obsession of buying so many of the colours, highly recommend these products. I think I own all the pastel shades so far, the formula with a good top coat works wonders.

Rimmel: I don't really need to tell you that the Rimmel nail polishes are great. We all know how amazing the products by Rimmel can be. The price, formula and packaging are all great, my obsession with nail polishes started with Rimmel. I love all the amazing colours they bring out, I find that if I cannot find the shade I want, Rimmel usually sort me out with a great colour. I am still obsessed with the Rimmel products even now, years later and that is saying something about the brand. I just love me some Rimmel London!

Essie: This is the start of my Essie obsession, the reason it took me so long was the price. I knew there was a lot of hype around them but never made myself buy any. Oh how wrong was I, why did I wait so long. Right now I am obsessed with the Essie range, buy yourself a good top coat and you are sorted for a week. Minor chips here and there but the colour looks great. I get so many compliments about my nail colour when I wear Essie, the shine is incredible. I am loving Cute As A Button right now but soon will need to find myself some of the Autumn shades. The hype for me is well worth it when it comes to Essie, I love the brush size which allows two decent coats of the product to look amazing. You will need a good top coat to set of the colours well and for it to last. One of the best polish range I have ever used and I know I will need some more of them...

Let me know your favourite nail brands and colours?

  2. Barry M are definitely my favourite nail brand, they have such a great range. Though I do have a beauty outlet near me which sells literally hundreds of colours, mainly by W7 who are pretty good and have basically any colour you can think of!
